The season of “fun in the sun” music festivals kicked off this weekend at Coachella, a hot spot for fashionable celebs that love to rock the boho trend. The spirit of these festivals has definitively started to influence main stream fashion and it’s a trend that I’m beyond excited about! The desert heat definitely lends itself to 70s style – super short denim shorts, sheer tops, crossbody bags, wayfarar sunglasses, lace dresses, floppy hats, and flat sandals or ankle boots. I am so into this boho-chic movement. I’m always excited to see pics from the event because I always feel like I am looking at a snapshot of the past – Woodstock anyone?

I made a new bud through my blog last week, I love it when that happens! My motocross lovin reader Stephanie contacted me because she needs a dress to wear to a wedding that will hopefully make her husband’s jaw drop! She rides dirtbikes, yes motorcycles in the dirt lol, and is often seen in motorcycle gear rather than pretty dresses. She’s also a mom to a 3 year old and has little time or money to spend on herself.

Trina works full time, is the mommy of two adorable kids, and also runs a blog of her own, XOXOTrina.com. So whenever she finds the time, Trina will be posting an occassional 5 Under $50 for us. I’m so excited :)

From Trina – “The 4th is just around the corner and whether you have a BBQ or pool party to attend, I know you recessionistas will want to look fabulous. Dressing for themed holidays can be tricky. To avoid crossing over into tacky, my suggestion is to pick a color from that holiday and pair it with a simple themed accessory. With Independence Day for instance, the red top would be perfect with crisp white shorts and simple star shaped earrings. The romper would be darling with white wedge sandals and red lips. Or take the blue skirt, add a white tank and dress up the look with a holiday inspired manicure. The choice is yours. Now go show off your Independence!”

5 Under $50 – Cocktail Rings

If you have any unique gift ideas for Mother’s day, I hope you’ll comment to this post and share. Personally, I am addicted to Shari’s berries and prefer them for ANY and EVERY special occasion (check out my review). Don’t bother putting any thought into a gift for me, because Shari’s Berries never get old. It’s a gift that is under $40 and much better than flowers, IMHO :) Interesting and DELICIOUS!

I picked up this Portochef Free-Standing Recipe Easel for my mom because her and I both love to cook. I have one also, and it’s my favorite non-fashion purchase I’ve made this year :)

I am ADDICTED to AllRecipes.com – I have over 600 recipes stored in my online recipe box and have made over 200 of them so far. So that I don’t take up space on my counter with my laptop (or mess up my laptop), I started printing all of my recipes and adding them to my easel. It’s perfect because the pages are laminated so you can wipe them off, because it stands up, it is easy to read and takes up less counter space, and I love the ring binders so you can rearrange the pages as you add new recipes. You can also order additional pages. LOVE IT!
