Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011 Stars Accessories Look For Less

The Breakdown

Celebs have already been wearing Dolce & Gabbana stars all over the red carpet and I am loving this look. Not ready for the head-to-toe bold look of the stars seen on Dolce & Gabbana’s fall/winter 2011 runway? Translate the runway to realway with simple, but oh so fun accessories. I have the gold dangle star earrings and would love to add a ring or necklace to my jewelry box.

The Breakdown

Welcome to day 2 of our 5 day 2010 Fall Trends Series. You definitely can’t escape the leopard trend this season. This is a look I swore I’d never try 10 years ago, but like they say, never say never. I think animal prints are just enough main stream so that you won’t be gawked at for your attempt, but yet, not so main stream that you are blending in the crowd.

I am seeing this trend on celebs everywhere and all over the magazines. I think I’m going to work into this one slowly, maybe with a belt or some ballet flats. Check out the ballet flats above – they have the pony hair finish making them look like real leopard fur! LOVE! I’d really like to try a leopard tank with a black 3/4 sleeve jacket and some skinny jeans. What about you? Would you dare to be wild in the leopard print trend?

  1. Big Leopard Print Scarf – AffordableScarves.com $12.07
  2. Leopard Jacket $49.00 & Leopard Tank $29.00 – Spiegel.com
  3. Leopard Print Leggings – YesStyle.com $15.00
  4. Leopard Ballet Flats – Target.com $19.99
  5. Leopard & Gold Pyramid Studded Belt – Dillards.com $45.00

The Breakdown

In the spirit of fall just around the corner, everyday this week I’ll be covering a fall trend and offer several options per each trend. For Day 1 of our 5 day fall trend series, we will cover the oh so popular must have trend, structured handbags. The days of the hobo are not long gone just yet, but an emerging style that I am seeing everywhere is the more structured handbag. I love the clean lines and it looks a bit more polished and professional – the type of bag that can easily go from day to night seamlessly.

Structured handbags have a lot less bells and whistles than the popular hobos celebrities have carried for the past several years – less pockets, zippers, and embellishments on the outside and they are a lot less “slouchy” in shape. I did a Steal the Real recently (item 2 above) on the Hermes Birkin, a beautiful handbag that fits this trend perfectly, and saw Rachel Zoe carrying it the same day on her premier episode of The Rachel Zoe Project.

I found all of the above options at one of my favorite “looks for less” merchants, HandbagHeaven.com. I used mostly neutral options in my style board above; however, most of these bags come in several different colors, so make sure you check them out by clicking on the links below. What do you think of the structured handbags? Would you wear this emerging trend?

  1. Ivory Studded Satchel – $45.86
  2. Lock & Key Shoulder Bag – $46.41 (last seen here)
  3. Faux Ostrich Bag – $40.76
  4. Broad Ripple Satchel – $45.86 (last seen here)
  5. Woven Messenger Satchel – $50.96

This trend alert goes out to our Twitter bud @Dorie87! She tweeted us, “@TheLooksForLess can you tell me where i can get this purse or something similar? nicole richie http://preview.tinyurl.com/2e4q7lw“. Dorie, we’ve got your bag, I mean back, on this one :).

In the spirit of music festivals that have gone on non-stop all spring and summer, a trend that is catching like wildfire is the beautiful bright bohemian handbags. The common theme amongst all of these bags is the patchwork fabrics and the fully saturated hues of reds, blues, and greens with occasional hints of yellow. These handbags vary slightly in style – some are tiered messenger style bags, while others are very large and covered in fringe. Each tote brings a little peace and love into our hearts.

These bright bohemian patchwork bags are popular amongst celebrities at the forefront of the hippie-chic movement including Nicole Richie, Kate Hudson, and Sienna Miller. Other celebs that love these bags are part-time hippies, yet full time trend setters, such as Miley Cyrus and Rachel Bilson. Of course, they all carry the high end totes such as the Halston Heritage Slouchy Canvas Sac Bag and the Simone Camille Carryall embroidered cotton bag, by Designer Simone Harouche, found at Net-A-Porter.com for $1,860!!! All of the Steals above are under $35!

Hey Everyone, I’d like to take a moment to introduce our newest guest blogger, Trina. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you probably feel like you know her already :) She has submitted a few kick ass reader looks for less, so I thought it was time to bring her style to The Looks For Less on a regular basis. Trina works full time, is the mommy of two adorable kids, and also runs a blog of her own, XOXOTrina.com. So whenever she finds the time, Trina will be posting an occassional 5 Under $50 for us. I’m so excited :)

From Trina – “The 4th is just around the corner and whether you have a BBQ or pool party to attend, I know you recessionistas will want to look fabulous. Dressing for themed holidays can be tricky. To avoid crossing over into tacky, my suggestion is to pick a color from that holiday and pair it with a simple themed accessory. With Independence Day for instance, the red top would be perfect with crisp white shorts and simple star shaped earrings. The romper would be darling with white wedge sandals and red lips. Or take the blue skirt, add a white tank and dress up the look with a holiday inspired manicure. The choice is yours. Now go show off your Independence!”
