Norisol Ferrari Presentation
“For Fall 2012, I am exploring the seductive power of glamour and using it as a coat of armor — Jean Harlow meets Tina Turner in Mad Max.”
The Looks for Less was invited to attend the presentation of the Norisol Ferrari Fall 2012 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center on Tuesday, February 14.
The designer, who launched her brand in 2009, showcased an array of pieces, displaying her love for furs and leathers as well as the embodiment of the notion of each piece being a second skin for the wearer. Lace, cashmere, wool and silk were also intermixed with the more exotic fabrics to create these handcrafted pieces.
Each of the 19 looks featured in the collection were displayed in a circle in the center of the room, allowing each of the viewers to walk around and see each one up close. The centerpiece of the display was the ‘Whitney’ black satin strapless corseted gown with black lace trim and bustle, and it was a show stopper!
Overall the collection was very edgy. It was rocker-chic, it featured menswear inspired looks and had hints of Gothic and Victorian influences. I really loved that it had so many different types of pieces in it; dresses, gowns, vests, coats, jackets, skirts, pants and tops. While I appreciated getting to see the super luxurious furs, I liked seeing simpler pieces like the beautifully tailored pants and blouses. I also really liked the way that everything was styled.
Norisol Ferrari herself was very humble and you could tell by just looking at her that she was really in awe of the experience and the opportunity to show at NYFW. The last picture is of her and the only two live models in the presentation.
While the collection may not cater to my usual fashion sensibilities, I would really love to wear many of the pieces I saw. What do you think of the Norisol Ferrari Fall 2012 collection? Which of the pieces was your favorite and why?
