Finally, I hit the skin care aisle of my local pharmacy and stood there reading bottles of lotions and potions for about half an hour. For my daily cleanser, I picked up Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser ($8.99 at Amazon.com). It gets off every bit of makeup, including mascara, without stripping my skin. This is a soap and oil-free cleanser that is gentle enough to use every day, even on sensitive skin. After a couple of uses, I started to get that deep cleaning tingle and my skin has finally cleared up. As the bottle says, it truely does “bring out skin’s natural radiance and even out skin tone and texture. Come to find out, this cleanser was an InStyle magazine editor’s pick for great skin in your 30s and was named an “Allure Best of Beauty” for 2009!

I went to see a dermatologist for the first time recently and she suggested that I use Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer after washing my face. It is literally “dermatologist recommended”! I opted for the SPF 15 formula ($10.99 at Amazon.com) because I am seriously avoiding skin damage (aka – the sun) these days. I am so lucky that I do not have fine lines or crows feet just yet, and I’d like to keep it that way. Cetaphil is a lightweight non-greasy moisturizer that hydrates while protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

After washing with Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser and moisturizing with Cetaphil, my skin feels so clean and my “problem areas” have definitely improved. These skin care products are much more accessible and less expensive than some of the products I was getting from a facialist and department stores… and I can’t believe they work better! In addition to these two products, I exfoliate and use a facial self-tanner two to three times a week.

The studded faux-leather jacket has an off-center zip closure and a studded lapel, slanted zipper pockets, and a snap button tab waist for a more fitted construction. A smocked back with pleated accents balance the edge with some feminine details. Gotta have it!!!

Apparently, I’m not done with fall just yet as you can tell by my shopping spree board above – lots of black, white, and gold. Never thought I’d mention fall and white in the same sentence, but it is all the rage this season and fashion rules (no white after Labor Day) were meant to be broken. I am ADDICTED to jackets, so both above were a must have for me. Some girls are hooked on purses and shoes… I am hooked on jackets. They transform any outfit! Also, I love the 80s revival trend going on right now, but I think I am only interested in participating to the extent of an off the shoulder tee. I had to have the lace top, because, as Rachel Zoe mentioned in her “No So Basic Guide” to 20 wardrobe essentials, a feminine blouse is a must have. I can’t wait to wear this on my next date night.

The late great Alexander McQueen was by far my favorite designer (if you couldn’t tell by my McQueen black and white pumps icon and the way I ripped apart Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance video). His fashion was so bold, colorful, and always ahead of its time. Alexander McQueen, born Lee Alexander McQueen in 1969, was an English fashion designer known for his unconventional designs and shock tactics. McQueen worked as the head designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001 before founding the Alexander McQueen and McQ labels. McQueen’s dramatic designs, worn by celebrities including Björk, Lady Gaga, Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Rihanna, were met with critical acclaim and earned him the British Designer of the Year award four times between the years of 1996 and 2003.

McQueen committed suicide last week, 3 years after his good friend and mentor Isabella Blow took her own life and 9 days after his mother passed away. On February 3rd he wrote on his Twitter page that his mother had died the day before and added, “RIP mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.” Four days later he wrote that he had an “awful week” but said “friends have been great” adding, “now i have to some how pull myself together”. McQueen was laid to rest this Thursday in West London. The death of this genius is a huge loss for the fashion world.

McQueen’s last fashion show was held at Paris Fashion Week in October 2009. In addition to his amazing talent as a designer, he was also an accomplished scuba diver and used his passion as a source of inspiration in his “Plato’s Atlantis” Spring/Summer 2010 collection. I ADORE Ashlee Simpson’s style. If I had to choose a celeb that defined my style, it would be her! I love that she is such a rockstar, but mixes in a bit of preppy glam as well.
