Work Looks For Less

Remember my Balenciaga handbag look for less outfit post? It has been featured at WorkChic.com in their “Style Me Monday – Outfit Ideas for Casual Fridays”. How cool is that? Thanks so much WorkChic.com for the feature!

From WorkChic.com, “Wearing conservative attire can be daunting and boring day after day. Thus, there is Casual Friday to enjoy a day of dressing in more casual and comfortable styles. It’s perhaps the best day to let your personal style shine through even more. Keep in mind though, casual attire does NOT mean donning a sloppy outfit (unless you are working in a completely relaxed environment where your appearance is of no concern).”

Check out Work Chic’s blog for outfits from several of their favorite bloggers that can easily work as casual Friday outfits. They also take requests, or if you have a favorite work look you would like to share, they’d love to hear from you.

Remember my post on these fun platform pumps? The outfits from that post were featured on WorkChic.com! How exciting is that? They have a “Steal Her Style” segment and were so nice to post on my business casual (the dress) and casual (the skinny jeans) looks for less. I’d suggest pairing the dress with tights for the office and the jeans with the blazer would be great for a casual friday. Thanks so much WorkChic.com for featuring my looks!

My Twitter bud @edyttalove tweeted me, “hi i was wondering if u knew where to get nice business attire, i have an interview coming up and cant seem to find anything.” Thanks for the request Edytta… I’m so happy to help! My challenge for this post was to find items that were all under $50 and offer a few different outfit options.

If you are applying for a job in a creative line of work, such as interior decorating or fashion magazine editor, feel free to play up the color. I love the pink ruffle blouse from ModCloth.com. It is so amazing. For most types of interviews, I would stick with basic black and white and then mix in your own personal style once your hired and get a better sense of the dress code. Don’t forget your Padfolio, complete with a pen for taking notes and a few copies of your resume.

PS – Now that I’ve discovered Polyvore, I used their search engine to find the majority of these items. I did very specific searches and was surprised that ModCloth apparel, not only came up for almost every search, but far exceeded the other options in terms of style! I never thought of ModCloth for business attire, but they totally came through with affordable fashions for the office!

What to Wear - Navy Knit Vest

Our twitter bud @Tiaraisawonder tweeted, “@TheLooksForLess so I have this vest and no clue how to rock it for a chic business casual look! Ne ideas, its 4 my internship!”

What we know about this fashionista… she will be interning at the Pentagon, so she needs a look that is classy and conservative. We definitely want to infuse her personal style and she loves all things vintage, bohemian, and ModCloth. Because she’s not making the big bucks just yet, her clothes need to serve double duty, so we created two looks for our hard working intern-to-be.

What to Wear - Kelly Green Mardi Gras Top from Bevello.com

Fashionistas on a budget need a wardrobe that can serve double duty. In this look for less, the oh so cool Bevello.com challenged us to take this Kelly Green Mardi Gra Ruffle Top from “Day to Night”. Bevello is an online shop that features independent, emerging designer items at an affordable price.

This season it’s all about pattern and color. It’s also about mixing, not matching. Instead of wearing shoes that are the same color as your bag, try basic black pumps, as seen in the night look, or go with a hue other than the primary color in the pattern, as we did in the day look.
