Lorac Loreal Eyeshadow Dupe - The Look For Less

The Breakdown

Welcome to our very first “Beauty Looks for Less”. I asked, and she delivered – I reached out to beauty blogger Thrifted Crayon to guest blog for our first eyeshadow dupe post, and she exceeded my expectations. Jenny, a professional artist, fashion connoisseur, and makeup lover chose to do a smokey eye with Lorac vs. Loreal and here are her comparisons and review:

Enlighten $18
Star Quality $18
Inspiration $18
Green Room $18
Total: $72

Studio Secrets, 336 Forest Smokes: $5.97

Savings: $66.03

I have been using Lorac eye shadow for quite some time now. Lorac is a high end makeup brand with beautiful, well-pigmented colors. The eye shadows go on smooth and strong. The colors from the containers stay very true to the color and feel very light when placed on the skin.

I was challenged by The Look For Less to find an alternative to the high-end eye shadows I’ve been using. I chose to go with a palette of four Loreal eye shadows to test things out. The Loreal eye shadows went on very creamy and much more pigmented than expected. The colors showed up stronger on my skin than the Lorac eye shadow did. The application felt very creamy and rich compared to the Lorac eye shadow. The colors did show up differently on my eyes than they looked on the palette. I made sure that the Lorac and Loreal eye shadow were very similar in color, but when applied, the Loreal eye shadow changed colors–even though they were still beautiful colors when applied.

All in all, it is definitely possible to find a great palette of eye shadows by staying within your budget and look great without breaking the bank!

love it! did you use a paint pot or something to make it stay?

  2. Leanne says:

This is a great idea, but I personally don’t like seeing l’oreal getting publicity as they still test on animals. Revlon does a similar palette and is cruelty free.

  3. Daniela says:

I loved the idea! Can’t wait to see more of “beauty for less”.
