This is my second fav manicure ever, next to my lace manicure! It was so easy too. I’ve been wanting to do a jewel tone plum and a highly metallic gold combo for a while, so when Naughty and Nice and Midnight Kiss showed up in my China Glaze 2010 Holiday collection, I was thrilled. This look for less is dedicated to our reader Stephanie W – she wrote to say that she was searching for a look for less of these super fun red gloves with a black bow from White House | Black Market. She wasn’t wild about the price at $68, or the leather, so we were determined to find her an affordable alternative.

We weren’t able to find red gloves with a black bow for less (which could make for a fun and easy DIY project); however, we were able to find a pair of red suede gloves from Top Shop for only $32! How adorable are they for the holidays and winter months to come? They’re very similar to the oh so expensive Miu Miu Bow Embellished Suede Gloves from Net-A-Porter that come with a price tag of $395, for a difference of $363 from Top Shop gloves! The look for less is more of an “inspired by” glove, rather than a “steal the real”; however, I prefer the price, the cut-out wrist, and shade of red of the Top Shop gloves for a fun pop of color.

My twitter bud @AvgGirlsGuide contacted me and requested that I do a guest post for her The Average Girl’s Guide blog and of course I said “yes”! That’s what (twitter) friends are for, right? I’ve been wanting to do a must haves report for fall, so we decided to take that on while keeping it all under $50! Check out this post where it was originally featured at The Average Girl’s Guide.

1. Shearling lined details are so wildly popular right now – it’s everywhere from fold over boots to removable coat collars. When I saw this shearling jacket I literally WOL (wowed out loud, yes, I just made that up)! I nearly jumped for my credit card, and then remembered my recent Forever 21 shopping spree and figured I should resist the urge. I’m not sure how long that will last, but please note the effort! Beyond the fact that this is one of the coolest jackets ever with the faux leather, moto style, and shearling detail, would you believe that it is under $50! 2. I just picked up the leopard print scarf from Affordable Scarves and it is an absolute must have! If you’ve read my blog for a while, then you already know that I have been wanting to try the animal print trend, but have been a bit of a fraidy cat (get it cat? leopard? haha). I thought if I was ever going to attempt it, then I would try a super small dose in the form of a super cool scarf! I’ve always thought that scarves were supposed to be worn with a pile of layers; however, I’ve seen so many pics of people wearing them with just a tank and jeans and love the look. I was wearing a black silk tank when this came in the mail, threw the scarf on over it, and it was a match meant to be. This leopard print scarf is super light and airy and comes with a price tag of only $8.46!
3. Every girl needs a chunky cable knit sweater in their life and I have this exact one! I love it so much that I had to add it to this fall must haves list! If you’ve watched my vids, then you would have seen it in my Forever 21 Haul as well as my China Glaze Holiday Collection Review. Of course, these trends are not to all be worn together; however, this sweater would look great with the cargos! 4. So this next must have just upsets me! I just used up a Bloomingdales gift card that I’d held on to for years on a Michael Kors gold boyfriend watch that looks just like this watch! Actually, the watch I picked up was the Michael Kors Jet Set Watch in champagne and the watch above looks most similar to the more expensive Michael Kors Chronograph Watch that I really wanted! So double dangit for splurging, haha! Had I known that a super fab look for less was right around the corner, I would have used my gift card on something else! I’m seriously amazed that you can get an almost identical look to the Michael Kors watch for pennies compared to the original. 5. The goal with fashion these days is to not dress matchy-matchy and these cargos are an easy way to create that less than perfectly paired outfit as though you’d planned it that way! Take a top that you’d normally wear with jeans, and pair it with these cargos instead. Last week, I threw on an off the shoulder heather gray raglan sleeve top, and these skinny cargos finished the outfit so well. Not only is it an interesting look compared to jeans, but its also the perfect essential for adding a bit of the military trend to your wardrobe. Those of you that follow me on twitter (@TheLooksForLess) probably already know that I am addicted to cooking and baking. You may also know that I started a cooking blog with my sister that lives in Washington state. We live so far apart (I’m in Florida) that the blog is our way of staying connected though our love of food and taking pictures of food, haha.

It’s interesting how all of this has worked out because when we lived at home back in our Georgia days, we thought of cooking as work. Without influence, yet somehow at the same time (while 3,000 miles apart), we developed a passion for cooking! It must have been a sister thing :) Also at the same time, we both starting taking lots of pics of our food as it was being prepared and sending the pics and recipes back and forth to each other in emails. As I was cooking up one of her recipes, I decided we should start documenting our dishes in a blog – a recipe exchange diary.
