Apparently, I’m not done with fall just yet as you can tell by my shopping spree board above – lots of black, white, and gold. Never thought I’d mention fall and white in the same sentence, but it is all the rage this season and fashion rules (no white after Labor Day) were meant to be broken. I am ADDICTED to jackets, so both above were a must have for me. Some girls are hooked on purses and shoes… I am hooked on jackets. They transform any outfit! Also, I love the 80s revival trend going on right now, but I think I am only interested in participating to the extent of an off the shoulder tee. I couldn’t decide between #3 and #4, so I threw them both in my cart :) The lengths are different so I think I’ll get a lot of use out of both. I’ll wear the short one with different colored tanks and the long one with leggings or skinnies and a jacket as seen in look #2. I had to have the lace top, because, as Rachel Zoe mentioned in her “No So Basic Guide” to 20 wardrobe essentials, a feminine blouse is a must have. I can’t wait to wear this on my next date night.

The late great Alexander McQueen was by far my favorite designer (if you couldn’t tell by my McQueen black and white pumps icon and the way I ripped apart Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance video). His fashion was so bold, colorful, and always ahead of its time. Alexander McQueen, born Lee Alexander McQueen in 1969, was an English fashion designer known for his unconventional designs and shock tactics. McQueen worked as the head designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001 before founding the Alexander McQueen and McQ labels. McQueen’s dramatic designs, worn by celebrities including Björk, Lady Gaga, Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Rihanna, were met with critical acclaim and earned him the British Designer of the Year award four times between the years of 1996 and 2003.
McQueen committed suicide last week, 3 years after his good friend and mentor Isabella Blow took her own life and 9 days after his mother passed away. On February 3rd he wrote on his Twitter page that his mother had died the day before and added, “RIP mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.” Four days later he wrote that he had an “awful week” but said “friends have been great” adding, “now i have to some how pull myself together”. McQueen was laid to rest this Thursday in West London. The death of this genius is a huge loss for the fashion world.
McQueen’s last fashion show was held at Paris Fashion Week in October 2009. In addition to his amazing talent as a designer, he was also an accomplished scuba diver and used his passion as a source of inspiration in his “Plato’s Atlantis” Spring/Summer 2010 collection. I ADORE Ashlee Simpson’s style. If I had to choose a celeb that defined my style, it would be her! I love that she is such a rockstar, but mixes in a bit of preppy glam as well. She’s such a hot mama. This is the perfect look to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring. Her dress is so on-trend with the neutral floral on black pattern finished with with a pair of black platform wedges and a leather jacket for that rocker edge.

I love this fun and flirty collection by Sonia Rykiel designed exclusively for H&M. Tons of stripes, adorable waist coats, and ruffle dresses for unbelievably affordable prices. Pastels and light neutrals with pops of black were all over the Spring/Summer 2010 runways and are infused in this entire collection. In an interview about the collection, Rykiel said, “Don’t ask me which one I would choose because if that’s your next question, I can’t answer. Paris Hilton and Rihanna are looking so amazing in this Alexander Wang contrast dress. I would ask who you think wore it best, but they are wearing nothing but skin, the same dress, and practically the same shoes. Paris wore her corset mesh dress to the Rock of Ages musical on New York’s Broadway after appearing on the David Letterman show, while Rihanna was spotted visiting the apartment of rapper and producer Kanye West.
