Update:
On September 13th, the Anna Sui affordable fashion line was launched on Target.com and the entire collection sold out within 24 hours! They have restocked the majority of the the Gossip Girl inspired pieces and do not expect them to last long. I picked up a few dresses and I can’t tell you how exciting it is to have an Anna Sui label in my closet at a fashionably affordable price.

Anna Sui is designing an affordable fashion line for Target and we couldn’t be more excited. What’s crazy cool about this line is that it is inspired by our favorite fashionistas from the hit show Gossip Girl. These trendsetters represent Sui’s boho meets rocker style and it’s evident in all of the pieces she designed for Target. I’m so happy that designers are finally thinking about us recessionistas… possibly due to the recession? I’ll take it either way. Thank you Anna Sui for not discriminating against those of us without trust funds. As New York Fashion Mag online points out, Sui’s Target line is shockingly similar to her past runway shows, yet way less expensive… lucky us!
From Women’s Wear Daily: “I have always been a fan of designer partnerships with mass retailers,” Sui told WWD exclusively. “I think it is a great way to bring fashion to everyone. I love Go International and was intrigued with Target’s new take on designer partnerships. It’s a fresh approach. I was able to select a muse or source of creative inspiration to focus the collection around. It is an exciting challenge to try and interpret my aesthetic into a mass-produced product with a specific inspirational source as the focus.”
Sui’s line is scheduled to go on sale September 13th online at target.com and in about 250 selected US stores. Her collection – which combines “the elements of art, city, spirit, punk and glamour”, will be available until October 17. I am hoping to snatch up as many pieces as possible as soon as possible.
